Backed by a Sonic Boom remix of 'Good Time' album track 'Velvet Reality' on the B-side, the neon-pink 7" is due out May 10th 2024 on Fuzz Club and is limited to just 500 copies.

Having spent 2023 touring North America with The Black Angels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols – including festival appearances at Levitation/Austin Psych Fest, Desert Daze, SXSW, Freak Out, Treefort and a recent KEXP session to boot – and with a seven-week European tour kicking off in April 2024, 'Clear' is the woozy, reverb-soaked sound of a band on the rise. An unheard cut from the 'Good Time' sessions, DAIISTAR's Alex Capistran (guitar/vocals) says that "the idea behind 'Clear' was to write the perfect song for a perfect day. Across the album's ten tracks and rapid 26-minute running time, the band revel in an abrasive, fun-as-hell rock'n'roll that will leave your bones rattling just as much as your speakers.

Emerging out of the rubble of the now-defunct Liverpool bands Weird Sex and Ohmns, YOBS was kick-started in 2022 and is made up of Joey Ackland (Vocals), Alex Smith (Bass/Vocals), Michael Quinlan (Guitar/Vocals) and George Gebbie (Drums). Their debut full-length – recorded in four days at Hackney Road Studios with “our master and mate” James Aparicio – arrives off the back of a 2023 spent playing rowdy, ear-ringing shows with the likes of A Place To Bury Strangers, Mark Sultan, C.O.F.F.I.N, Alien Nosejob and more. The songs on the album have been hardened by YOBS' riotous live shows, delivered on the record with a gusto that yearns to be experienced in dingy venues as Ackland writhes around the stage and entangles himself with a mic lead.

'Fortune Teller', a roller-coaster of high-energy riffs and pounding drums, began life as a warm-up in practice, before evolving live and then being committed to tape. The stomping lead single 'Wasted' was the first song YOBS wrote together and became an instant live favourite, the gang-vocal chorus often screamed back at them by their inebriated crowd. "This one was inspired by a heavy weekend at a festival I played in another band", Ackland recalls of the aptly-titled single: "We had over-indulged a bit and after crawling to a portaloo, I ended up getting stuck in there for what seemed like a year. Every time I tried to leave I couldn’t find my way out. I ended up sat on the floor, giving myself a bit of a talking to."

While often inspired by and perfectly suited to boozy high-jinks, the 'YOBS' LP doesn't shy away from more serious and angered subject matter. The caustic noise-rocker 'Cyanide' is inspired by the tragic story of scientist and mathematician Alan Turing, driven to poisoning himself by a homophobic establishment and legal system – the song "written from the angle of one of the angry mob who stalked him, and stopped him living a normal life." Elsewhere, the gnarly 'Head The Ball' – the heaviest cut on the album, bordering on hardcore territory – takes aim at sneering middle-class elitism: "We never aimed to be a political band, but it’s pretty hard not to be influenced by the growing populism and this yearning to be an elitist. It's gross isn't it? So, this is saying fuck you to them. Originally released on 11/11/11 via Anton Newcombe’s A Recordings label, ‘Dead Magick’ has come to be seen as one of this generation’s definitive neo-psychedelic works and had an almost cult-like reverence attached to it. Tours around the UK, EU and USA, major international festival dates and critical acclaim soon followed the album’s release, and it also helped to catalyse a burgeoning underground psych scene to whom ‘Dead Magick’s occult sonic belligerence became a crucial and highly-lauded touchstone. A twelve-track masterclass in “transportative far-out guitar hymnals” (The Quietus) and "a psychedelic battle cry" (The Guardian), the ‘Dead Magick’ double album was an exercise in spiritual rock’n’roll drones shaped by primitive fuzzed-out guitars, repetitive vocal mantras, distorted organs and crashing percussion.
Inspired by bandleader Jón Sæmundur Auðarson’s diagnosis with HIV, the driving philosophy behind Dead Skeletons (and the wider ‘DEAD’ concept that Jón, aka Nonni Dead, has been exploring since 2003) is defined by the ‘He who fears death cannot enjoy life’ chant heard on the album’s declarative opening track, ‘Dead Mantra’. The underground hit was the first song released by Dead Skeletons – comprising Jón, Henrik Björnsonn (Singapore Sling), Ryan Carlson and Aislinn Van Kriedt (Asteroid #4) – and laid out the band’s intentions from the off: to use music as a means to inspire people to celebrate and cherish life unshackled from fears and anxieties over their mortality. “I created the DEAD concept in 2003 as an idea to use art as a therapy to overcome the fear of death and to enjoy life to the fullest. Following on from their sold-out 2015 debut ‘Aktivität’, which saw the band pick up a fast-growing reputation in the psych underground, Verstärker’s second album ‘Jenseits’ is due out October 27th 2023 on Fuzz Club. Five tracks spanning 45 minutes, ‘Jenseits’ is the band’s response to the modern dystopian world we now inhabit – taking on a heavier and even darker tone than what came before. “Everywhere, everything feels on the verge of collapse. We find our hope in the music and art. This is the future we are striving for.” On ‘Jenseits’, tightly-wound motorik basslines, hard-hitting percussion and effects-loaded guitars are set against bleak atmospheric drones in the rare moments the record’s fast-driving pace lets up. Talking about the record, guitarist J. Vitatoe explains: “Jenseits as a preposition means ‘beyond’ or ‘on the other side of’, and, as a noun, it means ‘the hereafter” or ‘the next world.’ This dual meaning is the concept that permeates the record. The motorik beat has always been about pushing towards the horizon, the sense of perpetual forward momentum. Crafted in a landscape where time and space collapse, the record is Electric Eye's most ambitious and experimental project to date. Originally commissioned by Sildajazz – the Haugesund International Jazz Festival – and premiering there in 2022, ‘Dyp Tid’ (Norwegian for ‘Deep Time’) is both a meditative journey and an exploration of what it means to exist in a universe where time stretches far beyond humanity’s grasp.

First performed live in Skåre Kirke, an octagonal wooden church in Haugesund, Norway that was built in 1858, these six atmospheric compositions centre church organs, synths and choral vocals over any traditional ‘rock’ instrumentation. Gradually winding through ambient minimalism, kosmische improvisations and experimental psych-jazz, ‘Dyp Tid’ isn’t just an album but a space; a mental landscape where sound and time intersect. Talking about the album, Electric Eye’s Øystein Braut says: “We have always been drawn to the cinematic, to the sense that something feels larger than life, and in Dyp Tid we wove these elements together into something both deeply personal and utterly elusive.”

Setting up in Bergen´s Duper Studio, the recording space became a laboratory to further develop these new ideas and transform the ‘Dyp Tid’ piece into a fully-fledged studio album: “We delved into analogue technology, explored vintage machines, and experimented with what lay at the edge of our control. We sought the sound of time’s depths, something that felt infinite and uncontrollable. In an age where everything seems algorithmic and predictable, we aimed to create something that refused to be boxed in – something that lives and breathes by its own rules. The album intricately weaves together live recordings from the wooden church and studio sessions, often oscillating between the two in the course of a single track.”

Available on 140g Amber Vinyl. Starting out as a guitar and drums duo, their time together and also perhaps the geographical circumstances of living in different countries allowed them the freedom to explore radically different creative approaches between 2024's live session album 'The Drumhard Sessions Vol. 1' and the full-throttle electronics of the the incoming 'Splitterzelle' LP:

"Out of several recording sessions came the collaborative Drumhard Sessions Vol. 1 and this self-titled LP. Due for release February 21st 2025 on Fuzz Club, it’s a set of downtempo, repetitive grooves that course through dusty spaghetti-western psychedelia, Tuareg-derived desert-blues, library music and '70s progressive. It’s always cinematic but shot through with trippy, off-kilter moments that bring a sense of alien to the widescreen panoramas here – this is an “oozy, woozy cowboy groove”, as they put it. It was like a door opening up to a new exciting territory, which we happily embraced. These kinds of tunes just hit a special spot and never bore us at all, quite the contrary, it´s rather inspiring.”

Though ‘Dust Moves’ was both a musical and thematic excavation of the desert, its follow-up ‘Night Wobble’ wades through less arid surroundings: “Night Wobble can be perceived as the soundtrack accompanying an imaginary story of a journey into the forest after dark, conjuring all the arcane images and strange magic that can happen in the woods at night. The rhythm serves as a proposal for the pace in which one roams through the night, but it’s the moments of idle that invite you to hang out and have a deeper look around.”

New album from The Underground Youth, 'Décollage', released April 4th 2025 on Fuzz Club. Self-written, recorded and produced by Dyer, the album is an exercise in artistic deconstruction in both name and form, marking a decisive musical shift. “‘Décollage is the art of creating an image by ripping, tearing away or removing pieces of an original existing work’. My idea was to apply this technique to music”, he explains. “I built walls of static coated hip-hop drum samples, layers of Lee Hazlewood style string arrangements and Serge Gainsbourg inspired mellotron melodies, then I began tearing away at these beautiful, chaotic walls of noise, exposing a new sound for The Underground Youth.”

The result, Dyer says, is “a trip-hop infused soundtrack to a collection of lyrics dealing with adoration, ancestry, originality, hallucinations of revolution and a hope that something better can be born from the ashes of the horror that exists in our world.” From moments of ghostly minimalism to sweeping crescendos of noise and melody, there is a shadowy, dreamlike quality to the songs here. If its predecessor ‘Nostalgia’s Glass’ (2023) mined a more introspective nostalgia, ‘Décollage’ feels more hauntological in nature – tearing apart and re-transforming what once was in search of a future left spinning from reel-to-reel on warped and distorted old tape.

Alongside Dyer, The Underground Youth is comprised of drummer and visual artist Olya Dyer, guitarist Leonard Kaage (who also assisted with post-production on the record) and bassist Samira Zahidi. Initially formed as a solo project by Dyer in 2008, the band has sinced released 11 – now 12 – studio albums and 4 EPs, evolving a unique sound that has over the years ranged from cinematic lo-fi psychedelia and raw melancholic post-punk to gothic folk-noir. More than ever, the band wanted to produce a brand of East-Coast psychedelia that reflected the natural lusciousness and glorious solitude of the immediate world around them. Over 30 songs were conjured, considered and arranged before being whittled down to a final 10 that epitomise what they do best - ten tracks of vivid hue, harnessed live power, all laced together in fluid lyrical harmonies. Taking inspiration from band favourites Woods, KGLW, Stereolab, among many others, a string of at-home recording sessions commenced over a 6-week period across the summer of 2024.

Side A is a sun-drenched journey through their whimsical Norfolk countryside, narrated with a surreal sense of lyricism which focuses on the undulating flow of the human psyche and the shape of relationships that can decide its fate. 'Burning 305' follows the mould of the band’s earlier creations with white-knuckled rhythms layered with dashing production and gritty guitars. 'The Score' summarises their love of Revolver-era Beatles and infuses it with a hint of 90's dance grooves. Side B is where the trip takes a heavier turn, the un-hinged night-time of the record. It is where the band best shows the force with which their live reputation has been built on. 'Tiergarten' - a motorik course through consciousness and 'Howling Dog Song' - all raucous, scuzzy-garage riffing. The album concludes with the 7-minute epic 'Sun For Hire'. Born out of a 30-minute live improvisation, it is the earliest written of all songs on GDM and a strong fan favorite for the audiences of the last 2 years.

"A lot of themes are anti-establishment commentaries on the state of the modern world. It can feel isolating being bystanders of global concern in sleepy Norfolk, even though it’s easy to slip into a false comfort when you’re surrounded by vast space, natural beauty and friendly folks down the market. Gone Down Meadowland is that egoless escapist fantasy that still can't escape the world caving in on itself; Norfolk isolationism."

Produced by the band themselves, mixed by Hugh Fothergill of Volleyball, and mastered by Joseph Carra at Crystal Mastering of KGLW fame, Gone Down Meadowland is Floral Image’s first full flourish. Crafted entirely by Stanley Belton—who writes, records, and produces everything himself—the record embraces analogue imperfections and tape wobble, splicing them with modern techniques to create a “cassette-ified” lo-fi psychedelia blending ‘60s pop, ‘90s neo-psych, and crunchy hip-hop breakbeats.

"Mellowmaker was made immediately after Wobble, I kinda see them as two sides of each other", Belton says. The washed-out saturated vocals and jangling Vox guitars are there, but the in-built fuzz and repeater sounds on his cherished vintage Ultrasonic get some heavier usage here. Synths take more of a back-burner in favour of dreamy mellotron samples. Drums are still recorded with one mic and ran through guitar amps or mixed with drum machines, but lean even more into 60s dancefloor breakbeats.

At its core, Belton states that ‘Mellowmaker’ attempts to give temporary permanence to the timeless and intangible, a liminal feeling permeating the eleven tracks here: "With these two albums I've attempted to crystallise how it feels to be stuck between a feeling of amnesia of the soul and the earthly experience of piloting a meat suit... I’m still chasing that longing intangible ‘Hiraeth’ feeling. The sense of wanting to find our way home to a place that maybe doesn’t exist."

New album from New Candys, 'The Uncanny Extravaganza', released May 30 2025 on Fuzz Club.

Format Info: Hand-numbered gatefold jacket (/500), alternative cover art, 180g coke bottle clear vinyl, printed inner-sleeve, download card

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
New Candys are set to make a powerful return in 2025 with the release of their highly anticipated fifth album, 'The Uncanny Extravaganza', via Fuzz Club. The Kiel-based trio has been an integral part of the European psychedelic rock scene since its formation in 2018 and stands for raw energy, musical freedom and rampant improvisation. With six studio albums acclaimed by fans and critics, as well as various tape and split releases and shows with bands such as Elder, Verstärker and Kungens Män, Kombynat Robotron has made a name for itself as an uncompromising (live) band that carries the spirit of Krautrock into the present day.

On ‘AANK’, their seventh studio album in as many years and first on Fuzz Club, the trio work with vocals and song structures for the first time, moving away from their musical beginnings as an instrumental jam band. Kraut and psychedelic rock can still be found deeply rooted on ‘AANK’, but more focused and delivered with much more heaviness than in the past. The flowing psychedelic soundscapes of the band’s previous records give way to the asphalt of the Autobahn. Between opening track ‘Staub’ and closer ‘Finsternis’, the Kombynat races, noises and rages across a total of eight tracks.

Together with recording engineer Felix Margraf, Kombynat manage to capture the spirit of their raw live energy by recording everything live together in one room at Kulturzentrum Karnak, a small venue in Kassel in the middle of Germany. In this instance we have a new O.R.B tune, a psychedelic rock song inspired by the rhythm and blues and doo-wop of pre-Beatles rock ‘n’ roll – before Coca-Cola, McDonalds and Blackrock came in and fucked it all up. “Music is esoteric in nature, liquid and ever changing. It is alchemical. In futile attempts at capturing this magic we have taken to engraving our music into bits of plastic, trying to present the song within as the ‘definitive’ version… of course this is BS. Nobody from Beethoven to Beefheart could play the song exactly the same way twice even if they tried. So here is a version of our new song ‘Mind Over Matter’.
